Dr. Ian Goodwin is the Research Leader Horticulture Production Sciences in Agriculture Victoria based at the Tatura SmartFarm. Ian has over 40 years’ experience in horticulture research and innovation with a focus on intensive production systems, crop water requirements and climate challenges.
In recent years, Ian has led a team studying sun damage, colour development, tree physiology, crop regulation, yield formation and water relations in bespoke research orchards including the Sundial Orchard and the Agrivoltaics pear experiment. In addition, his team is testing, evaluating and demonstrating ag tech to increase profitability in orchards as well as increasing the efficiency of data collection in field experiments.
