Katrin Janik

  • Dr. rer. nat., head of Molecular Biology and Microbiology at Laimburg Research Centre. She specializes in plant molecular biology with a focus on plant-pathogen interactions and disease detection methods. She completed her MSc in Biology and doctorate studies in Infection Biology at the Leibniz University of Hannover in Germany. 
  • She then worked at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden) and started her work on phytoplasma infections in apple at the Laimburg Research Centre in 2012. She is author of numerous publications of interdisciplinary research studies in international journals. She is a member of the PhD Steering Committee at the Free University of Bolzano, member of the provincial Technical Advisory Board for Research and Innovation and a jury member of the South Tyrolean Science Awards.
