Born in Biella (1970), he graduated from Turin Polytechnic in 1996, where he obtained his PhD in History of Architecture and Town Planning in 2001. He has carried out research on the transformation of disused industrial areas in Italy. At the Polytechnic of Turin and the University of Trento, he has held courses in History of Contemporary Architecture and History of Architectural Criticism and Literature. He has collaborated with "Il Giornale dell'Architettura" since its foundation in 2002; since 2004 he has been its editor-in-chief and since 2015 its director.
Author of critical and historical essays. With Cantieri d'alta quota. Breve storia della costruzione dei rifugi sulle Alpi (2011) combines his interest in the history of architecture with his lifelong passion for mountaineering (he has climbed 79 of the 82 peaks in the Alps above 4000 metres). In 2012 he founded and has since then chaired the cultural association Cantieri d'alta quota.
